Our respect for Indigenous cultures across the world runs far and deep, occupying every inhabited climate zone and continent of the world, these diverse ethnic groups represent an important window into the foundations of modern Wayfinders. The opportunity to speak about where our guides started, and walk through their evolution is an enlightening journey, it allows us perspective. A chance to revisit the many steps that lead to what we call our Active Guide System, along with this we have created a library of working guides for hikers of all levels. Working on the trail, with other hikers and alongside local trail associations has allowed us a greater understanding of the needs of “Trails”. The Wayfinder Company was founded on a shared passion for the trail and hiking in our backyard, the Canadian Rockies. We identified a shared approach and reverence for wild spaces, our hiking and backpacking trips led to an interest in sharing the details and history that accompany these iconic places.
